YOU YANGS TRAIL RUNNING FESTIVAL
RACE INFORMATION
Please read the brief carefully if you are a competitor.
The Race Brief documented will be emailed to all competitors during the week before the race. This will include any last minute changes. This may include information such as, but not restricted to:
changes to the course
changes to the aid station locations
latest weather details
updates to the list of mandatory equipment
etc.
PRESENTATIONS
All finishers receive a custom designed medal.
1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners each receive a trophy and a prize. However, the winner must be present to receive the prize. If you are a winner, we hope you can stay. Presentations will begin as soon as we have all winners for a race. If you are a winner and cannot stay, please let us know.
CAR PARKING
The Turntable carpark must be left available for park visitors.
Hardcore 100km and 100mile runners can park at the Turntable carpark, but not in the main carpark. Traffic management will direct you.
All other competitors and supporters must use the Lower Picnic Ground carpark. There is a walking track from the lower carpark to the Turntable area which is a very pleasant 5-10 min walk.
COFFEE and FOOD VENDORS
Look out for Ang from Divine Grind. She’ll will drop in a couple of times over the weekend with her delicious coffee.
And the best pizzas you’ve ever tasted will be served by Mariana from Wood Fired Pizza 2 You.
WHAT TO BRING
All runners must read the race brief document. Hardcore 100 runners, please take note of the mandatory gear to have with your supplies. You are NOT required to carry the gear.
All runners are required to carry a water bottle or cup while you run. Water and sports drink are available at aid stations on the course (see the maps for locations). We DO NOT PROVIDE PAPER CUPS, but you may purchase a collapsable silicone reusable cup during check-in.
Make sure you have warm clothes to wear once you cool down.
TRACKING
Tracking is optional at You Yangs this year. If you would like us to track you so that we and your onsite supporters know where you are, please contact Trailsplus to make arrangements.
RESPECT FOR OTHERS
Our good reputation for keeping the trails clean is very important to us, and important for the future of this event. It is a privelege to be permitted to run in such a popular leisure and nature space. Please be careful to observe the following:
– Leave NO rubbish, including tabs off the top of gel packets.
– Respect all other trail users, they have equal rights to it.
NAVIGATION
The entire course is well marked with directions. These consist of:
– signs with red arrows on white background at intersections
– flour arrows on the ground at intersections
– pink and yellow ribbons in trees at intervals along entire course
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
A place will be provided for you to leave your personal belongings. Trailsplus IS NOT responsible for their safe keeping. Please do not leave valuables. Car keys may be left at check-in and collected from the timing tent.
AID STATIONS
See the maps on the main page for aid station locations.
Aid stations are generally about every 10km for the Saturday events, and about every 5km for the Sunday events.
They are stocked with a selection from jelly lollies, salted potato chips, fruit cake, chocolate and fresh fruit. Drinks include water and sports drink.
Some basic hot food will be available during the night, for runners. However, it is each runner’s responsibility to ensure they have the nutrition they need for their event.
CUT-OFF TIMES
Hardcore 100s: 32 hours (4pm Sunday)
50km: 8 hours (4pm Sunday)
The decision to stop a runner will be made by the race director after consultating with aid station operators, race sweeps and medical support personnel. All efforts will be made to allow a competitor to finish. Health and safety of competitors and respect for aid station volunteer time will be most important in the decision-making process. If a competitor is stopped, they will be transported by car to the finish.
